UPDATE ON THE CLOSURE OF TENNYSON’S SURE START CHILDREN’S CENTRE
As you will know by now, Tennyson’s Sure Start Children’s Centre will be closing this Autumn, but you will see some changes to our programmes of activities from the end of the summer term.
Our children’s centre staff will be focusing our resources on the families who need us most…
This means that the last of our weekly play & learn sessions will be Thursday 18th July, and the last Health Visitor Child Health Clinic at the Children’s Centre will be Friday 18th July 2019. The Health Visitors will inform you of the alternative venue but if you are not sure and you have not heard from your health visitor, please do not hesitate to call their advice line on 01883 340 922.
We will continue to run activities over the summer holidays but you will notice that our programme is very much reduced as compared with previous years. The Wednesday morning sessions are open to anyone in our area, and we are requesting a £1 donation towards resources. Thursday Stay & Play sessions are INVITE ONLY. If you have not received an invitation, and you think you should have, please call us to let us know.
Those families who are currently receiving outreach support from the children’s centre will continue to receive support from the children’s centre, initially from the Children’s Centre in Haslemere, and then from the Family Centre, based at Loseley Fields in Farncombe.
In the meantime, please continue to use the children’s centre for its last few weeks. Our aim is to speak to each family who currently attends our Centre to make sure everyone understands how these changes will affect them.
If you are worried about how the children’s centre closure might affect you and your family, please tell us. We might not have all the answers now, but we promise that we will work on finding an acceptable solution for you and your family.
The Children’s Centre building will be passed to St Bartholomew’s Primary School for them to use. They have a number of possible uses for the building. The contents of the Children’s Centre belong to Surrey County Council and these will be transferred to the Family Centre in Farncombe.
Please remember to use the Surrey Family Information Service – it is an excellent resource to support families.
On behalf of Claire, Kate & Marylin, I would like to thank the community for their overwhelming support & kindness during what has been a very unsettling time for the families and children who visit our children’s centre, as well as those families who have used our services in the past. Thank you x
